Erica Davies is a fashion blogger who effortlessly captures attention and warmth. Whether it’s her candid, humorous Instagram captions—touching on everything from body image and parenting to finding the perfect pair of jeans—or her distinctive take on personal style, she has an innate ability to connect with her 111k followers. She also has a deep appreciation for the Great British High Street, which makes her style feel accessible to everyone. Her ability to present fashion as something joyful and participatory is truly infectious.
With over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, Davies brings an authoritative voice to her social media, and whenever she gives something her approval—be it the latest high-street dress or a chic interiors piece—fashion enthusiasts sit up and take notice. We had the chance to speak with this former fashion editor turned blogger to discuss her career journey and what’s on her autumn/winter 2018 wish list.
How did your blog first come about?
“I had been a fashion editor at national newspapers and magazines but started my blog as a creative outlet just before my second child was born. I didn’t necessarily want to talk about breastfeeding, but I did want somewhere to discuss all the fashion and interiors and stores that interested me and my friends who were also on maternity leave. That was just over six years ago. I started taking my Instagram seriously when I left my position as fashion and beauty director of Look to go freelance.”
How has your style changed since you first started out in your career?
“I have definitely become much more comfortable with who I am and what I’m trying to do. When I worked in an office, I was very comfortable with my work wardrobe but terrible with casual wear. Now the two have merged, but as I get older, I have a stronger sense of how I want to look and also what suits me.”
Style Notes:
- Here, Erica channels summer style perfectly in a Dodo Bar Or skirt paired with a gingham top from Jigsaw. A raffia bag completes the look.
- For a more chic take on animal print, Erica styles an & Other Stories leopard print skirt with a crisp white blazer and pristine trainers.
