One day at work, I walked into a meeting with four other women, all sporting satin midi skirts. And what was I wearing? A satin midi skirt. Yep, it’s a thing, folks.
At first, I wasn’t sure about hopping on the satin skirt train. A while back, it seemed like everyone on Instagram suddenly had to own the leopard print satin skirt from Par Realisation—only for it to be sold out almost immediately. Satin skirts were everywhere, and I wasn’t quite sold.
Why? Well, satin clings, and honestly, I wasn’t thrilled about the thought of trying to dodge VPL (Visible Panty Line) all day or dealing with a skirt that could highlight my tummy pooch. But eventually, I caved—especially after I found the most amazing neon green satin skirt from ASOS (now, sadly, sold out). I learned to embrace the fabric, stopped worrying about how it looked on my body, and even received a stunning tie-dye satin skirt from Mango, which has since become one of my favorite pieces.
Here are a couple of ways I’ve styled my satin skirts for inspiration:
The Big Chonky Sweater Look
When I first bought my neon green satin skirt, it was winter—freezing cold, in fact. (Seriously, on the day I wore this, we experienced rain, hail, and sunshine all in a few hours.) To balance out the boldness of the skirt, I paired it with a cozy, oversized brown turtleneck. The contrast of the chunky top against the sleek, tapered satin skirt helped tone down the vibrant green, making it feel more sophisticated and office-appropriate. Because let’s be real, I’m not always about that neon life.

The Lazy Day Tee Look
There are those days when you’re either hungover, exhausted from a lack of sleep, or maybe just not feeling up to much. On those days, a satin skirt comes to the rescue. It keeps you looking put-together when you feel anything but. I styled my tie-dye satin skirt with a tee that mirrored the skirt’s colors, plus some “ugly chic” trainers, for a laid-back yet stylish look. Oh, and of course, I had to do the French tuck. Because why not?
